Electrochemical techniques allowed the comparison of reactivities betw
een p-methylanisole, m-methylanisole and the anisole in acetonitrile /
tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate on platinum electrode, by evalua
ting the homogeneous rate constant for an ECE type of mechanism, using
cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) and Specular Modulate
d Reflectance Spectroscopy (SMRS). Such differences are mainly attribu
table to the relative stabilities of the corresponding cation radicals
and free radicals.
