THE APHYLLOPHORACEOUS FUNGI .1. KEYS TO THE SPECIES OF THE THELEPHORALES

Nomenclature and taxonomy of the genera of the Thelephorales are brief ly discussed. Characters used to separate genera are analysed and the status of several segregates from Tomentella is discussed; Tomentellas trum and Lazulinospora are not recognized here at the generic level. D escriptive keys to the species are given. The concept of species compl exes is used here to indicate groups of species that are closely relat ed and which may need critical examination to re-establish their speci fic status. It is considered likely that many of these taxa should be distinguished at an infraspecific level. An annotated list of all spec ies described in the genera of the Thelephorales (incl. synonyms) is g iven.
