Abstract
The various expressions of differential cross sections are recalled an d discussed in connection with experiments using position sensitive de tectors. It is shown that the representation of differential cross sec tions based on cylindrical coordinates is well suited for describing t he relative intensities of competing collision processes, in particula r those involving the temporary formation of a complex.
