Sm. Evans et al., RECOVERY OF DOGWHELK POPULATIONS ON THE ISLE OF CUMBRAE, SCOTLAND FOLLOWING LEGISLATION LIMITING THE USE OF TBT AS AN ANTIFOULANT, Marine pollution bulletin, 28(1), 1994, pp. 15-17
There is evidence of recovery from symptoms of imposer in populations
of dogwhelks Nucella lapillus (L.) from study sites on the Isle of Cum
brae (Scotland) and, in particular, on shores adjacent to the town of
Millport. RPSI scores and the numbers of 'penis-bearing' females have
decreased, and the numbers of dogwhelks on the shore have increased, b
etween 1988 and 1993. Dogwhelks were not found at all at one site at M
illport in 1988 but were abundant there by 1992-93.
