This communication raises some issues and intends to provoke thought r
elated to postgraduate education in paediatrics with special reference
to Saudi Arabia and its Eastern Province. Questions relating to selec
tion, quality of training and evaluation have been raised previously b
ut apart from suggestions, no attempt has been made to answer them. At
tention is drawn to the need for a national dialogue for future develo
pment necessitated by the rapidly changing needs of health care of chi
ldren in the Kingdom.
