Abstract
We have determined the L(perpendicular to) coherence parameter for ele ctron-impact excitation of the (...6s6p 6(1)P(1)) state in Ba-138 by m easuring the superelastic scattering of electrons from laser-excited B a-138. Three electron-impact energies were studied and the scattering- angle coverage in each case was sufficient to allow the observation of pronounced structure in the angular behavior of this parameter. We al so present a detailed comparison;of our results with available theory.
