Abstract
The infrared and Raman vibrational spectra of the t-butylsilanes (t)Bu SiX(3) (X = H, D, F, CI, Br, I) have been measured and assigned with t he aid of normal coordinate analyses. The SiX valence-force constants that were calculated are somewhat smaller than the values for the sila nes SiX(4). A number of t-butylsilanes were prepared using new reactio n pathways and new precursor molecules, whose properties are described .
