Four hundred sixty-four fecal specimens were tested for rotavirus by t
hree immunoassays, VIDAS Rotavirus (bioMerieux Vitek, Hazelwood, Mo.),
Rotaclone (Cambridge Biotech Corporation, Worcester, Mass.), and Path
finder Rotavirus (Sansfi Diagnostics Pasteur, Chaska, Minn.). Twenty-s
even discordant specimens were evaluated by electron microscopy. The s
ensitivities, specificities, positive predictive values, and negative
predictive values were 98, 99.3, 98.7, and 99%, respectively, for VIDA
S Rotavirus; 100, 99, 98.1, and 100%, respectively, for Rotaclone; and
100, 92.4, 87.3, and 100%, respectively for Pathfinder Rotavirus.
