PURPOSE: To describe typical findings of focal fatty sparing of the pa
ncreas. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Computed tomography, ultrasonography, a
nd/or magnetic resonance imaging were performed in seven patients. RES
ULTS: In these patients, the area of sparing of fatty change was withi
n the head or uncinate process of the pancreas. CONCLUSION: Differenti
ating pancreatic fatty sparing from true neoplasm by means of cross-se
ctional imaging obviates the need for invasive diagnostic studies.
