Gc. Enders et Mt. Sodums, LOCAL THROMBOLYTIC THERAPY IN SUPERIOR VENA-CAVA SYNDROME SECONDARY TO MALIGNANT THYMOMA - A CASE-REPORT AND LITERATURE-REVIEW, Catheterization and cardiovascular diagnosis, 31(3), 1994, pp. 215-218
Superior vena caval (SVC) obstruction due to malignant thymoma is exce
edingly uncommon. We report a case of SVC syndrome where local intrave
nous thrombolytic therapy uncovered an SVC tumor mass not detected by
high resolution computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging scan
ning. Local intravenous thrombolytic therapy may be therapeutic in cen
tral venous obstruction and may facilitate the diagnosis of the underl
ying cause of obstruction. (C) 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
