Theta alumina obtained by calcination of boehmite is studied by SEM, X
-ray and electron diffraction, HRTEM and vibrational spectroscopy and
compared with results obtained for gamma and delta aluminas prepared f
rom the same boehmite. The structure of the theta phase derives from t
he spinel one, The short- and long-range order in the three aluminas i
s discussed.
