Abstract
Two channel wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) over a 908km path w ith seven in-line erbium doped fibre amplifiers (EDFAs) is reported. A t the 10Gbit/s transmission level the line exhibited a good performanc e margin and significant robustness to simulated faults. To the author s' knowledge, this is the longest amplifier spacing reported in a syst em of this length at this line rate.
