Abstract
Carbonated hydroxyapatites were synthesized at pH 7.0 and 9.0 with a c arbonate content up to 9.2%, in the presence of Zn2+ ions. The uptake of Zn was found to be proportional to the amount of Zn added at precip itation. Chemical, lattice constant, microprobe and thermal analyses i ndicate incorporation of Zn into the apatite lattice.
