Sj. Chern et al., THE TRANSFORMED DOMAIN HYBRID ADAPTIVE BEAMFORMER FOR MULTIPLE JAMMERS SUPPRESSION, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 95(2), 1994, pp. 866-876
The major area of current interest in adaptive arrays in their applica
tion to problems arising in radar, sonar, and communication systems, w
here the designer almost invariably faces the problem of interference
suppression. In general, for real time processing, the robustness, wit
h respect to the changed environment, of the adaptive beamforming algo
rithm with rapid convergence rate is desired. In this paper, a new hyb
rid adaptive beamforming algorithm is derived in the discrete-cosine t
ransformed domain for multiple jammers suppression. Overall performanc
e improvement, in terms of convergence rate and the computational requ
irement, is addressed. From computer simulation results, it was found
that the presented method outperformed the conventional Frost's linear
constraints LMS algorithm, in terms of the capability of jammers supp
ression and the rate of convergence.
