N. Reinisch et al., INTERLEUKIN-1 RECEPTOR-TYPE-I MESSENGER-RNA IN MOUSE-BRAIN AS AFFECTED BY PERIPHERAL ADMINISTRATION OF BACTERIAL LIPOPOLYSACCHARIDE, Neuroscience letters, 166(2), 1994, pp. 165-167
Following administration of endotoxin in vivo, alterations of interleu
kin-1 (IL-1) receptor binding have been reported. In order to assess i
n vivo regulation of IL-1 receptor gene expression in brain, mRNA leve
ls for IL-1 receptor type I were measured after peripheral administrat
ion of bacterial lipopolysaccharide in mice. When 25 mu g of lipopolys
accharide were administered intraperitoneally, IL-1 receptor type I mR
NA in the brain was increased after 3 h. After 20 h, the level was dim
inished. This result suggests that bacterial lipopolysaccharide affect
s regulation of IL-1 receptor type I mRNA expression in mouse brain.
