A factorial design was used to simultaneously determine the effect of
three terpenes alcohols; citronellol, menthol and terpineol on mycelia
l elongation of three fungi: Aspergillus parasiticus, A. flavus and A.
niger. Among those three fungi, A. parasiticus was found to be the mo
st sensitive, Citronellol was found to be the most active terpene, fol
lowed by menthol and then terpineol. The presence of citronellol incre
ased the efficiency of both menthol and terpineol.
