Abstract
We explore the feasibility of a high-power FEL operating in the VUV an d configured as a coupled oscillator-tripler. The dynamical behaviour of the system and the dependence of the output power on the characteri stics of the e-beam are analysed along with the parameters of the osci llator. Finally, the possibility of enhancing the output power by mean s of appropriate tapering of the second undulator is discussed.
