A. Rickert et J. Meyertervehn, MODELING OF HIGH-Z PLASMAS AND OPACITIES FOR RADIATION HYDRODYNAMICS SIMULATIONS, Nuovo cimento della Società Italiana di Fisica. A. Nuclei, particles and fields, 106(12), 1993, pp. 1845-1850
Within the framework of the collisional-radiative model a model is dev
eloped that describes state distribution and radiative opacities of de
nse plasmas that can be generated with laser or ion beams. It takes in
to account deviations from local thermodynamic equilibrium as well as
non-ideality effects. Two-parameter atomic potentials are used and the
Dirac equation is solved to obtain energies and wavefunctions. The in
fluence of free electrons on the atomic potential is treated within th
e homogeneous free electron gas approximation. Results are presented f
or gold plasma including extinction coefficients for n(i) = 3.10(20) c
m(-3), T-e = 100 eV and for photon energies hv = 1-1500 eV.
