This paper investigates, graphically, a simulation of the launching of
recently obtained superluminal localized wave solutions of the homoge
neous wave equation. These solutions represent focused interference pa
tterns that travel with speed greater than c in the direction of propa
gation. Graphical simulation indicates that approximations to these so
lutions may be launched from a finite array of point sources, and the
superluminal nature of the launched pulses is maintained in the near f
ield of the array.
