M. Behr et Te. Tezduyar, FINITE-ELEMENT SOLUTION STRATEGIES FOR LARGE-SCALE FLOW SIMULATIONS, Computer methods in applied mechanics and engineering, 112(1-4), 1994, pp. 3-24
Large-scale flow simulation strategies involving implicit finite eleme
nt formulations are described in the context of incompressible flows.
The stabilized space-time formulation for problems involving moving bo
undaries and interfaces is presented, followed by a discussion of mesh
moving schemes. The methods of solution of large linear systems of eq
uations are reviewed, and an implementation of the entire finite eleme
nt code, permitting the use of totally unstructured meshes, on a massi
vely parallel supercomputer is considered. As an example, this methodo
logy is applied to a flow problem involving three-dimensional simulati
on of liquid sloshing in a tank subjected to vertical vibrations.
