Seven cerebrosides C1-C5, C2a and C3a have been isolated from the late
x of Euphorbia wulfenii Hoppe ex Koch and their structures have been d
etermined on the bet-sis of chemical and spectroscopic evidences. Norm
al and reversed phase flash-chromatography was effective for the isola
tion of the cerebrosides. FAB-MS spectrometry, H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR analy
sis and chemical reactions were useful in providing informations for t
heir structure elucidation. EI-MS of the dimethyl disulfide derivative
s of the FAMs has been decisive for the determination of the double bo
nd position in the fatty acids. The cerebrosides isolated from Euphorb
ia wulfenii show very close similarities in their structures.
