Va. Antonov et al., MODELING PRIMER CORD DETONATION IN A FOREST CANOPY WITHOUT A FIRE, Combustion, explosion, and shock waves, 29(4), 1993, pp. 527-534
Mathematical modeling is used to solve two problems: optimizing the pl
acement height of primer cord in a forest canopy to maximize the volum
e of displaced combustibles, and determining the effect of a reflectin
g screen on the effectiveness of the primer cord. Of the cord placemen
ts examined (at 0.75, 1.5, and 2.25 m), the optimum detonation height
was 1.5 m. A reflecting screen increased the effectiveness of the prim
er cord, and more so the closer the screen was to the cord.
