Abstract
The stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold power in externally modu lated lightwave AM-CATV systems can be increased up to 8 dB by single tone phase modulation of the optical carrier, without introducing sign ificant intermodulation distortion even if the signal wavelength is no t in the zero dispersion regime of the fibre.
