Abstract
The present study expands on previous research proposing a diathesis-s tress-hopelessness model of suicidal behavior. The role of problem-sol ving appraisal within such a conceptual framework and the generalizabi lity of the model across both suicide ideators and attempters are expl ored Results support the critical role played by problem-solving appra isal in predicting both hopelessness and suicide ideation.
