Abstract
A high incidence of deafness, confirmed by brainstem auditory evoked r esponse testing, was found in a colony of pointer dogs selectively bre d for excessive nervous behavior. The results of outcross and F-1 back cross breedings were consistent with an autosomal recessive mode of in heritance of deafness in this family of dogs.
