Js. Do et Cp. Chen, KINETICS OF IN-SITU DEGRADATION OF FORMALDEHYDE WITH ELECTROGENERATEDHYDROGEN-PEROXIDE, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 33(2), 1994, pp. 387-394
In the in situ degradation of formaldehyde with electrogenerated hydro
gen peroxide, the cathodic reduction of oxygen on the anodization grap
hite was first order in the concentration of oxygen dissolved in the a
queous phase. The oxidation of formaldehyde with electrogenerated hydr
ogen peroxide was second order in formaldehyde and first order in hydr
ogen peroxide. The activation energy was evaluated as 36 kJ mol-1. A m
odel calculation of the in situ degradation of formaldehyde with elect
rogenerated hydrogen peroxide correlated well with experimental result
s. The effects of temperature and initial concentration of formaldehyd
e on the induction period of the oxidative degradation of formaldehyde
with hydrogen peroxide electrogenerated in situ were explored.
