Ma. Kallistratova, ACOUSTIC AND RADIOACOUSTIC REMOTE-SENSING STUDIES IN CIS (FORMER USSR) - CURRENT STATUS, International journal of remote sensing, 15(2), 1994, pp. 251-266
This paper presents brief review of studies carried out in the U.S.S.R
from about 1940 to 1960, which serve as the basis for methods of prob
ing the atmosphere by directed sound waves. The remote sensing techniq
ues developed in the U.S.S.R. are described. A summary of some theoret
ical and experimental results, as well as the results of applying the
sodars and rasdars (RASS) to studies of the atmospheric boundary layer
in the 1980s are also given.
