B. Carissimo et al., BOUNDARY-LAYER TURBULENCE IN THE RHONE VALLEY AS SEEN WITH 4 ACOUSTICSOUNDERS, International journal of remote sensing, 15(2), 1994, pp. 467-477
A seven-month dataset of acoustic sounders has been analysed at four l
ocations along the Rhone valley. The analysis was focused on the turbu
lence measurements of fluctuations of the horizontal wind direction an
d of the vertical wind component. First, a global statistical analysis
was performed to extract information such as, the mean diurnal cycle,
or the mean variations with height of these turbulence parameters. In
the second phase we have looked at particular episodes, such as the w
ell-established 'Mistral' wind and situations of rapid wind reversal f
rom north to south and vice versa. In both cases, the differences caus
ed by the topography are examined.
