E. Kuzniak et H. Urbanek, INDUCTION OF HYDROLYTIC ENZYMES IN BEAN CELL AND PROTOPLAST CULTURES TREATED WITH BOTRYTIS-CINEREA MYCELIUM EXTRACT, Acta Physiologiae Plantarum, 15(4), 1993, pp. 227-236
The reaction of bean cell suspension cultures and protoplasts to treat
ment with Botrytis cinerea mycelial extract has been studied. In treat
ed bean cell cultures chitinase, beta-1,3-glucanase and beta-D-glucosi
dase were induced. Chitinase and glucanase activities increased coordi
nately during the whole examined period. Most of the induced enzymes w
ere secreted into the culture medium. The presence of a new fraction o
f exochitinase and of beta-1,3-glucanase in elicited bean suspensions
has been shown using ion exchange chromatography. Bean protoplasts ret
ain tile capability to be elicited by B. cinerea extract.
