I. Adamache et al., EFFECT OF CYCLIC FLOW INTERRUPTIONS ON PERFORMANCE OF VERTICALLY DIRECTED MISCIBLE FLOODS, SPE reservoir engineering, 9(1), 1994, pp. 51-58
Spatial variation in permeability can result in a wide range of critic
al rates in heterogeneous carbonate reservoirs undergoing vertical mis
cible floods. Such situations provide an opportunity for new design st
rategies where gravity, viscosity, and forces are used to advantage to
improve miscible flood performance. One such design strategy is use o
f cyclic interruptions in the form of well flow shut-in. Field observa
tions and laboratory experiments are presented.
