Th. Duong et al., EVALUATION OF 3 TESTS FOR THE IMMUNOLOGIC AL DIAGNOSIS OF HEPATIC AMEBIASIS IN GABON, Annales de la Societe belge de medecine tropicale, 73(4), 1993, pp. 261-266
The diagnosis of hepatic amoebiasis is not always easy. In case of sus
picion of hepatic amoebiasis in an endemic area, the patient is immedi
ately treated with a 5-nitroimidazole. Immunological diagnosis is indi
spensable. After a comparative study of BLA, IHA and IFA reactions, th
e BLA test has shown to be well adapted to the context of a country wi
th insufficient sanitary infrastructure. The BLA test is easily perfor
med and enables rapid detection of antibodies. The result obtained in
about 5 minutes allows to adjust the therapeutic conduct.
