A trial was conducted to investigate the productive effect of a test f
eed mix GENT and a cereal feed mix called FARM with the lower nutritiv
e value to be split for two phases of finishing the pigs of the matern
al cross combination of the Larger White x Landrace breeds (LW x L). T
he GENT group had the statistically significantly (P = 0.05) lower fee
d intake per 1 kg of weight gain (2.88 kg) and the higher (P = 0.01) d
aily weight gains, but also die higher (P = 0.05) amount of separable
fat (19.83 %) in comparison with the FARM group (3.12 kg/kg, and/or 17
.70 %). As for the size of main lean cuts, a minimum insignificant dif
ference (by +0.29 %) in favor of the GENT group was found out. The mus
culus longissimus dorsi had a significantly higher (P = 0.05) shrinkag
e loss in the GENT group. Over the whole finishing period, the outlays
for feed mixes were higher by 197.90 Kc per head in the GENT group, a
nd/or by 2.48 Kc per 1 kg of weight gain, while the production period
was by six days shorter than in the FARM group.
