The magnetic properties of Co-Ni compounds with MnCu2Al or MgAgAs-type
structure (the Heusler phases) were studied, Paramagnetic, ferromagne
tic moments, Curie's temperature increase with Co content. The ratio o
f ordered to paramagnetic moment varies with the Curie temperature fol
lowing itinerant ferromagnetism models. A metal-insulator transition o
ccurs in the TiCoxNi1-xSn series, which causes a more rapid drop of th
e Curie temperature than in TiCoxNi2-xSn solid solutions which remain
metallic.
