Systematic magnetic saturation moment and electrical resistivity measu
rements of the Fe3(1-delta)O4 and Fe3-xMxO4 (M = Ti, Zn, Al) are prese
nted. Cation distributions for low level doping are proposed and compo
sitional dependencies of the Verwey transition temperature are determi
ned. The latter show striking similarities in their dependence on cati
on vacancies and dopant concentration for any extraneous cations. Thes
e data are the basis for the analysis of the correlation between the p
resented cations distributions and the Verwey transition.
