Abstract
In this paper, a network transportation model is developed for determi ning the minimum cost re-contouring of the surface of a spoil pile cre ated in open cut coal mining operations to achieve a prespecified targ et surface. A fast algorithm for the resulting large-scale, highly den se transportation problem is presented. Computational experience on te st data is presented and practical application to real data is illustr ated.
