An investigation of the dichloromethane extract of Leptospermum scopar
ium afforded seven 3-substituted triterpenoid acids, four of which wer
e novel, and eight methylated flavonoids including one new flavone. Th
e new compounds were identified by their spectroscopic data as 3 beta-
O-trans-ferulyl-2 alpha-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid, 3 beta-O-cis-fe
rulyl-2 alpha-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid, 2 alpha-O-trans-ferulyl-3
beta-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid, 3 beta-O-ciscoumaroyl-2 alpha-hyd
roxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid and 5,7-dimethoxy-6-methylflavone.
