The effect of different levels of leaf infestation by leaf miner Phyto
myza horticola (G.) was studied. The plant characters studied were hig
hest in the insect free crop. The grain yield reduced beyond the level
of 40 per cent leaf infestation. The cost: benefit ratio was highest
(1:1.36) at this level of infestation. Two sprays of dimethoate were r
equired for keeping the level of leaf infestation below the economic t
hreshold value.
