P. Viaroli et al., LIMNOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON NORTHERN APENNINE LAKES (ITALY) IN RELATION TO EUTROPHICATION AND ACIDIFICATION RISK, Hydrobiologia, 274(1-3), 1994, pp. 155-162
Substantial variability was found in the water chemistry of 22 norther
n Apennine lakes. In a group of lakes there is evidence of disturbance
linked to eutrophication processes. Other lakes showed weak ion conce
ntrations and alkalinity below the acidification risk threshold. Howev
er no acidified lakes were found. The lack of waterbodies with severel
y altered hydrochemistry may explain why no clear relationship between
plankton community structure and water chemistry was observed.
