Mh. Lien et al., THE EFFICACY OF DERMABRASION IN THE TREATMENT OF NODULAR AMYLOIDOSIS, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 36(2), 1997, pp. 315-316
Nodular amyloidosis is a rare entity that predominantly affects female
s in the sixth and seventh decades. Frequent cutaneous sites of involv
ement are the extremities, trunk, and gen italia. Numerous cosmetic pr
ocedures have been employed to treat the lesions of nodular amyloidosi
s. Dermabrasion, which was performed on the lesions of nodular amyloid
osis on the chin after surgical debulking, proved successful in the tr
eatment of localized nodular amyloidosis. Follow-up at 26 months showe
d no clinical evidence of recurrence. Dermabrasion offers another acce
ptable modality for cosmetic treatment of nodular amyloidosis.
