Abstract
The one-phase periodic solution of the degenerate two-photon propagati on (DTPP) equations is obtained in an effective form. Its modulation i s investigated by means of the Whitham method. The theory developed is applied to the problem of evolution of the sharp front between two re gions of different pulse intensity.
