Abstract
F-19 NMR data and rate constants for the thermal cyclodimerization of para-methylsulfinyl alpha,beta,beta-trifluorostyrene (1) and para-meth ylsulfonyl alpha,beta,beta-trifluorostyrene (2) have been measured. On the basis of these data, the sigma(mb) and sigma(JJ). values for p-Me SO and p-MeSO2 groups have been evaluated. Three methods for the calcu lation of the sigma(JJ). scale yielded the same set of sigma(JJ). cons tants.
