C. Colombo et al., ANATOMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CORPUS-CALLOSUM AND CLINICAL CORRELATES IN SCHIZOPHRENIA, European archives of psychiatry and clinical neuroscience, 243(5), 1994, pp. 244-248
Nineteen DSM-III-R schizophrenic patients and 15 normal subjects, matc
hed for sex and age, were evaluated according to their clinical and co
rpus callosum structural characteristics. They were evaluated on their
size of callosum by means of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Neither diag
nosis nor sex significantly affects corpus callosum indices. Statistic
al analysis evidentiates a relationship between DSM-III-R axis-V score
s and corpus callosum length in schizophrenics, and between age at ons
et of the illness and corpus callosum length in schizophrenics.
