Abstract
An unusual type of traumatic comminuted fracture/dislocation of C1 and C2 is presented. The fracture differs significantly from previously d escribed types of C1-2 complex fracture. Anatomically contoured titani um loops were used for stabilization of the occipitocervical junction. To the best of the author's knowledge this is the first description o f comminuted fracture/dislocation of the bodies and laminae of C1 and C2 in the English literature.
