Abstract
Fetal heart rate changes occur in the majority of labours and correlat e poorly with perinatal outcome and subsequent neurological developmen t. Obstetricians giving expert evidence related to the interpretation of intrapartum cardiotocographs are advised to exercise caution when e xpressing their opinions.
