I. Doghri et Fa. Leckie, ELASTOPLASTIC ANALYSIS OF INTERFACE LAYERS FOR FIBER-REINFORCED METAL-MATRIX COMPOSITES, Composites science and technology, 51(1), 1994, pp. 63-74
The mismatch of coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) of fiber and m
atrix in metal-matrix composites reinforced with ceramic fibers induce
s high thermal stresses in the matrix. Elasto-plastic analyses-with di
fferent degrees of simplification and modeling-show that an interface
layer with a sufficiently high CTE can reduce the tensile hoop stress
in the matrix substantially.
