Rl. Carlson et Ga. Kardomateas, EFFECTS OF COMPRESSIVE LOAD EXCURSIONS ON FATIGUE-CRACK GROWTH, International journal of fatigue, 16(2), 1994, pp. 141-146
The variable-amplitude loading encountered in service often includes c
ompressive excursions. It has been a common practice to ignore these e
xcursions for fatigue crack growth analyses. Recently, experimental da
ta on both smooth bars and cracked specimens with intermittent negativ
e R ratio loadings have indicated that the effects of compressive excu
rsions are not negligible.
