Rhenium(V) complexes of three amine-phenol ligands prepared by reducin
g Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde and 1,3-diaminopropane and
1,4-diaminobutane, as well as 1,3-diaminopropane and 2-hydroxyacetoph
enone, have been synthesized. H-1 and C-13 NMR and IR spectroscopy wer
e used for characterization of two of the complexes. X-ray diffraction
data of all the three complexes were collected by the theta-2theta sc
an method using Mo-K(alpha) radiation. The structures were solved by P
atterson and Fourier methods and refined to final R factors of 0.046,
0.032 and 0.052, respectively for the three complexes. The complexes a
re dinuclear with O=Re-O-Re=O backbones and near octahedral Re(V) coor
dination. Two of the structures of the complexes are isomorphous with
the structures obtained earlier for corresponding technetium complexes
