Abstract
This article lists the theoretical criteria that need to be considered to assess the practicability of an automatic analyser. Two essential sets of criteria should be taken into account when selecting an automa tic analyser: 'reliability' and 'practicability'. Practibility covers the features that provide information about the suitability of analyse r for specific working conditions. These practibility criteria are cla ssified in this article and include the environment; work organization ; versatility and flexibility; safety controls; staff training; mainte nance and operational costs.
