Abstract
8-(Phenylamino)-1-naphthalene-silver sulfonate 2 was prepared from the corresponding ammonium salt 1 and silver nitrate under ambient condit ions in ethanol. From 2 salts with several other monovalent cations we re obtained. All of them show similar fluorescence properties. Attempt s to esterify the sulfonate group by means of alkylhalides were unsucc essful. Only after prolonged reaction times several decomposion produc ts were detected in the TLC.
