(eta(6)-p-cymene)(Cl)Ru-N(OH)C(R)CO2 have been obtained by reactions o
f (eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))Co(CO)I-2, [(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))MCl(2)](2) (M = Rh,
Ir) and [(eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl2](2) with 2-hydroxyiminocarboxylates. T
hese complexes are also accessible by template synthesis from hydroxyl
amine or O-methylhydroxylamine, alpha-oxocarboxylate and (eta(5)-C(5)M
e(5))Co(CO)I-2 or [(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))MCl(2)](2) (M = Rh, Ir). The stru
cture of the S-Ru enantiomer of (eta(5)-C(5)Me(5)>(I)Co-N(OH>C(CH3)CO2
has been determined by X-ray diffraction.
